Gentle Monster launches a special series with Son Heung-min

Founded in 2011, South Korean sunglasses brand Gentle Monster has gained massive followings over the years for its innovative modern aesthetics, flawless store designs resembling art exhibitions, and high-profile collaborations with the likes of Moncler Genius, BLACKPINK’s Jennie and Heron Preston. In its latest special project, the company has invited Tottenham star and 2021 Golden Boot winner Son Heung-min for a special two-piece sunglasses capsule.

 

These sunglasses include two black acetate frames featuring green and lilac with “GENTLE MONSTER x SON 7” engraved in gold on the right temple. A special pop-up is taking place at the Gentle Monster flagship store in Seoul, where an exclusive incense room bag celebrated in Son’s iconic camera pose is being offered. This gesture is meant to symbolize capturing fond memories.

“Son Heung-min, who set new standards in global sports, and Gentle Monster, who relentlessly experimented in the arts, stretched the limits of both separate fields,” Gentle monster wrote.

“Gentle Monster, an ironic combination, maybe even a new norm. I can say that Gentle Monster also represents myself, the stadium, and everyday life,” Son said of the collaboration.

The Son 7 pop-up is now open at Haus Dosan in Seoul, South Korea and will run from July 5th to August 8th. An international release of the framework has not been announced.
